Disqualifications

Jesus has already qualified those who are His.  But one of the questions that I have been asked is, “Are there any ways to be disqualified?”  The word of God says in Psalm 135:14, “For the Lord will judge and vindicate His people, and He will delay His judgments [manifesting His righteousness and mercy] and take into favor His servants [those who meet His terms of separation unto Him].”  I sought the Lord about this and He said, “No one can disqualify you except you.”  Naturally, I wanted to know what would disqualify someone.  The answer I received was two-fold: 1) disobedience and 2) a heart condition.  Let’s talk about disobedience first.

(1) Disobedience

According to Webster’s Dictionary, “disobey” means “To refuse or fail to obey an order or rule.”  “Disobedience” means “Failure or refusal to obey.”

The first thing that we need to understand is that every command of the Lord is not like that of a ruthless dictator or a control freak.  His commands are that of a loving Father Who loves and cares for us, One Who seeks to keep us from all harm and danger; One Who has already made the supreme sacrifice BECAUSE He loves us.  The Lord doesn’t tell us to obey because He doesn’t want us to have any fun.  He tells us to obey in order to protect us, bless us and bring us into the fullness of all He has planned for us.

For example, suppose a relative died and left you a million dollars in a bank account.  Suppose they left you specific directions to get to the bank.  But you decide you don’t like those directions because they seem like they’re taking you in a roundabout route.  You know a shortcut!  So you decide to go your way.  It just so happens that your route leads you through road construction and detours.  When you finally get through those, you find yourself behind a flatbed truck that hits a bump which knocks cargo off the truck right in front of you.  You swerve to miss it and you hit another car.  Your car not only gets totaled, but you are seriously injured and must be taken to the emergency room.  You spend two months in the hospital recuperating, only to come home to the news that you’re being sued by the people in the car you hit.  All of that could’ve been avoided if you had only followed directions.  And if you finally get to the bank, they’re not going to just hand the money over to you.  You have to follow their directions.  They’re going to require you to show at least two forms of identification.  They’re going to require you to fill out some forms, to sign some paperwork, to follow their procedures in order to get it.  Are they trying to keep the money from you?  No!  They’re trying to make sure the money gets to the rightful inheritor.  They’re trying to keep thieves and con artists away from your money.  Get the picture?  It’s the same way with God.  We are so precious to Him!  Just one look at the Word shows how mindful He is of us.

Psalm 56:8 - You number and record my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle—are they not in Your book?

Psalm 40:5 - Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered.

Matthew 10:29-31 - 29 Are not two little sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s leave (consent) and notice. 30 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, then; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalm 8:3-6 - 3 When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him? 5 Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet:

Yes, God has already mapped out the route for us.  All we have to do is follow it.
